The VF-23 struggled with chronic tire degradation during race stints, limiting the team's ability to consistently score points. In the latter part of the season, Haas introduced a major upgrade package for the United States Grand Prix, but it didn't solve the car's issues. In fact, the new package caused more problems, according to Hülkenberg. He even returned to the older-spec car for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
